VIC restricted class & SA Registration requirements

OVERVIEW

NATIONAL DELIVERY

Fire Industry Training (FiT) is pleased to announce the released of our redesigned Recognition of Prior Learning tailed to meet South Australia ‘test & inspect’ registration and Victorian ‘restricted classes’ in Fire Hydrant and Hose Reel testing requirements.

Duration & Structure

Applicants will be required to successfully demonstrate their skills and knowledge.

The steps in completing a successful RPL application consists of:

  1. Contact FiT
  2. Provide evidence of experience
  3. Complete online Assessment
  4. Undertake the 2-day Practical Assessment.

UNITS OF COMPETENCY

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN – The ‘General test & inspect registration’ units
(which covers the Hydrant & Hose Reel’ units, indicated with “*”):

  • *CPPCMN2002 Participate in workplace safety arrangements
  • *CPPFES2004 Identify types of installed fire safety equipment and systems
  • *CPPFES2006 Prepare for installation and servicing operations
  • *CPPFES2010 Inspect and test fire hose reels
  • *CPPFES2037 Inspect and test fire hydrant systems
  • CPCPFS3040 Conduct basic functional testing of water-based fire-suppression systems
  • CPCPFS3041 Inspect and test fire pumpsets.

VICTORIAN – ‘Fire Protection restricted to the routine servicing of UNPUMPED HYDRANTS and valves (ongoing restricted class)’ units:

  • CPPCMN2002 Participate in workplace safety arrangements
  • CPPFES2004 Identify types of installed fire safety equipment and systems
  • CPPFES2006 Prepare for installation and servicing operations
  • CPPFES2037 Inspect and test fire hydrant systems
  • CPCPFS3043 Conduct functional water flow testing.


OR the ‘Fire Protection restricted to the routine servicing of Fire HOSE REELS (ongoing restricted class)’ units:

  • CPPCMN2002 Participate in workplace safety arrangements
  • CPPFES2004 Identify types of installed fire safety equipment and systems
  • CPPFES2006 Prepare for installation and servicing operations
  • CPPFES2010 Inspect and test fire hose reels.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Participants must currently be working in the industry, with 2-years continuous documented experience conducting routine servicing.
You must have access to provide evidence in performing the following work:

  • Declaration by employer
  • Service records:
    Unpumped Hydrants-
    6-monthly servicing completion of at least 20 service jobs at 10 different locations
    Annual servicing completion of 20 service jobs at 10 different sites.
    Fire Hose Reels-
    6-monthly servicing completion of service jobs at 20 different sites OR 100 service jobs
    Annual servicing – completion of service jobs at 20 different sites OR 100 service jobs.

  • White Card / Construction Induction Card
  • Certified copies of any Qualifications
  • Site Induction records
  • Toolbox talk attendance records
  • Knowledge around fire protection equipment identification and routine service of the chosen item you’re seeking RPL in.

Qualification & STATEMENT

On successful completion of a unit of competency, students will be awarded a Statement of Attainment.

Pathways & Career Opportunities

Graduates may be eligible to apply for state specific Fire Protection licenses.
